Singin' and dancing in the Rain... So when we plan for weddings we imagine it in glorious sunshine, but what if the weather just isn't on your side? It is something so out of our control. I love the couple shots Annette and I take during a wedding, it is our favourite part of the day. There is always something we can capture if it's raining, either with umbrellas, or fulling experiencing the Notebook wet embrace! However, if I ever feel we have simply not been able to capture the best images for you on your wedding day because of the weather - we will do a free reshoot of your couple shots. So, you don't have to worry about the weather - we have you covered. Here is one of our lovely wedding couples with a few shots from their pre wedding shoot taken earlier this wet August month at Sledmere - one of my favourite locations in East Yorkshire, we almost needed Noah and his Ark for this session, but it just proves you can take stunning photos in the rain.
Back to the Studio
So, the studio has reopened. During Lockdown I derigged all of my photography equipment and turned my beautiful trusty home studio into a playroom for the kids. Like many of you, we created a rainbow in the window. It was great, until the novelty wore off however after a week or so, and toys started re-inhabiting the rest of the rooms in the house, like they always do (please tell me we aren’t the only ones with toys somehow appearing in EVERY room). And sadly the Rainbow in the window gradually faded…We made ours out of Tissue Paper and PVA Glue, which in hindsight perhaps wasn’t the best idea, but after some scrubbing with The Pink Stuff (Mrs Hitch would be proud), I eventually got it off, my hubby and daughter also helped" But the truth is, my once loved studio had become the dumping ground.
However, since being given the go ahead to reopen, the studio has emerged once more, not only clean, but with a drastic revamp. Following guidance from the government, furniture has been removed to leave a very minimalist look. But I actually love it, for once I feel organised.
I have added some markings to the floor to ensure social distancing can be maintained. For Newborn sessions, I also have a doll prop I can use to show you how to wrap your babies during the session. Occasionally, if you are happy for me to do so, I may need to get closer and might need to position the baby myself, however I will wear a mask, an apron that is washed before every Newborn session and constantly sanitise my hands. I am confident, that although the studio may look different, I can still do my job perfectly well and produce some irresistible photos for you. Looking forward to welcoming you back.
Irresistible Wedding Fayre
We found the Driffield Wedding Fayre a great success this month as many of the couples we spoke to had got engaged over Christmas. We also found that 2020 seems to be the year to get married as we have more weddings booked for 2020 than we do 2019 at the moment. It was lovely to see some of our friends and vendors we often see during our weddings and wish them lots of success for 2019, in particular Helen at #rosebudflowers who we always seem to see an be opposite at these events.
We got the chance to speak to other Photographers and vendors at the Wedding Fayre and they said the same, what do you think, would you rather get married on a odd or even year? My husband and I got married in 2013, so totally bad luck perhaps, but we feel lucky and currently have a life filled with happiness with our little ones.
We also ran a completion at the Wedding Fayre with the lucky winners winning a Free Couple Photoshoot, we announced the winners and look forward to their photoshoot which we are planning to do in Sewerby. We’ll possible update the blog with this shoot when it’s ready.x
Here is a photo of Jen at the wedding fayre - excuse the rubbish phone picture.
2018 ROUND UP
What a year we have had, we have been truly blessed with our clients, their babies, their families, their weddings and wedding venues. What a privilege it has been to share their precious moments with them. To encapsulate 2018 we have put together a few images (or a lot as we found it hard to choose) of just some of our shoots over the last year. Hope you like. We are really excited about 2019, Annette will be helping a lot more, possibly with her own studio space in Driffield coming soon. We have some great ideas for mini shoots which we will be announcing soon. Keep an eye out for events and offers throughout the year. Once again, we would just like to thank all our clients and loved ones for their continued support and wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.xx
